Purpose

The Cedar to Dortha channel segment and Dortha Inlet project included capacity improvements to the existing channel from Cedar Avenue to Dortha Avenue in between Main Street and Rose Street. These improvements were made by re-grading the channel into a standard trapezoidal configuration and lining the channel with Shotcrete concrete. A larger concrete box culvert and inlet was also added across Dortha Avenue. The improvements protect utility infrastructure in the channel from flooding impacts and reduces flooding to the surrounding neighborhood and downstream. The project is now complete and Dortha Avenue between Main Street and Rose Street has been reopened to traffic. The City thanks residents in the area for their patience during the construction period.
